For those of us who braved the erratic snow blizzards of Dublin yesterday, to venture into Henry Street, for the launch of Paul Costelloe’s new collection for Arnotts, it was so worth it!
Arnotts who were kicking off their “Celebration of Irish Design” week which runs till March 16th, welcomed us warmly with champagne and canapés accompanied by the beautiful melodies of a harpist and singer that set the mood perfectly.
It’s been a while since Paul Costelloe has had a womenswear collection on these shores and there was excitement in the room for sure. We had a chance to browse the collection before the show started and as is always the case with Paul, touching his fabrics makes you instantly aware of his immense love and respect of texture. He spoke, during the show, of how his Dad instilled in him, as a boy, the essence of fabric. This empathy is at the core of his design and how wonderful for us that he is so true to it in his collection for Arnotts….. at high street prices!!
The collection itself is made up of 25 key pieces that Paul describes as a “postcard” collection. It is classic Paul Costelloe all the way. From tailored blazers, to a PC signature safari/hacking jacket. Trench coat, to dress coat, to a short rain jacket. Very elegant beautifully cut dresses, sweet Peter Pan collar short jackets…. If you are a fan of Paul, it’s all here and with a price tag of between €155 and €495.
If you can’t get into Arnotts to view it, the good news is that it’s available online. I feel it is my duty to remind you at this point that the fabrics were chosen, with love, by Paul. So no worries here about quality that can accompany online shopping. Trust him!
And as for the man himself….. It was a joy to watch and listen to him present his collection. An absolute gentleman who can’t help but make you smile. Thank you Arnotts and thank you Paul Costelloe!
